At 3pm on Tuesday 24th March (the second anniversary of Maestro Abreu’s passing), Sistema Europe and El Sistema (Venezuela) celebrated Sistema and Abreu’s legacy and encouraged everyone to get involved.
Calling on members and non-members to live the legacy in the best way we know how, we issued a global call-out for people to play or sing their versions of Beethoven's Ode to Joy.
We were delighted by the level of response and the warmth still felt for Abreu and have put together a compilation video of those clips that were sent in to us to commemorate the occasion.

With videos from Venezuela to Turkey and Athens to Berlin, this was a truly global event that gave a sense of both the breadth of Sistema organisations across the world and the depth of affection for Maestro Abreu.
