During first days of war the Slovenian Youth Orchestra and the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine established urgent collaboration in effort to evacuate young musicians and their relatives from all over Ukraine to Slovenia. This effort resulted in the Music For the Future project, an evacuation music camp in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to give shelter, social support and possibilities for the further musical development to the young Ukrainian musicians who were forced to flee due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The large-scale launch of the project will take place with a debut concert on Wednesday 11 May in Ljubljana with star violinist Gidon Kremer as soloist: it will be streamed at 8.30pm and will collect donations through Unicef.

Music for the Future is currently putting together a tour in Europe in June and July 2022, and Sistema Europe has become a main partner for the tour along with European Mozart Ways and Unicef. In the words of the tour organisers: “With this project we give hope for the young generation of Ukrainian musicians to do music, to be heard, to stay connected and be integrated in European cultural space – for their peaceful future and the future of the whole world. Music is for them their healing, connection to their past and homeland, as well as the main means of communication with the world”.

Now Sistema Europe wants to offer to all of our members the chance to collaborate on this project. Help bring this charity concert tour to your city or region by contacting the concert organisations in your cities and beyond to suggest hosting this extraordinary initiative.
