London, 31 October 2016

Musicians from all over the world have joined forces in support of El Sistema Greece, a newly established programme aimed at providing free music education to children and minors in refugee camps in Greece. With opera singer Joyce DiDonato and baroque ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro as its patrons, the project – inspired by the ground-breaking El Sistema movement which has globally succeeded in tackling poverty through music – launches on 7th November 2016 with music lessons held in the camp of Kara Tepe in Lesbos island and in Athens, following two months of intensive preparations. Showing their support are some of the world’s leading classical music artists such as Angel Blue, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, and the global El Sistema movement including Simon Bolívar String Quartet.
