Acción por la Música puts music in the service of people as a tool of social transformation and human development. In particular, it aims to help the most vulnerable and to generate structural changes which favour equality of opportunity, integration, diversity and the individual and collective empowerment of the children, families and communities participating in its programmes.

The organisation belongs to the worldwide El Sistema movement and has been inspired by the dreams of its founder, Maestro José Antonio Abreu. Everyone at Acción por la Música shares the El Sistema conviction that music transforms adversity into hope.

The children that belong to Acción por la Música’s artistic ensembles come from immensely diverse cultural backgrounds, in which music operates as a means of inclusion and as a unifying factor for them and their families and communities. In contrast to the wounds inflicted upon the children by their exposure to situations of risk outside the organisation, Acción por la Música’s artistic structures provide spaces of personal growth, models of conviviality and groups of belonging, in which it is common effort which attains individual, social and artistic success.
