A five minute multimedia introduction to El Sistema Alsace

As of September 2019, El Sistema Alsace consists of two symphonic orchestras, one for younger children and one for slightly older children (aged 7-14).

With the support of the commune and the local École Municipale des Arts, El Sistema Alsace has provided music tuition to children in the community of Bischwiller, Alsace since 2015.

In Bischwiller, each child participating in the programme receives up to seven hours of free musical tuition a week. The El Sistema Alsace orchestras form part of the larger local cultural environment within the commune, which provides free collective access to music education for more than 350 children and young people, from their first days at nursery school through to their time at college.

In keeping with Sistemas across the world, El Sistema Alsace uses its innovative pedagogical approach as a means for achieving social, educational and individual progress while looking to improve its children’s well-being through their participation in the programme.

El Sistema Alsace works together with El Sistema France and Sistema Europe to increase inter-communal dialogue. Its programme in Bischwiller also does this on a local scale by opening its doors to children of all backgrounds and origins and offering them the opportunity to access a good quality musical education regardless of their circumstances.
