El Sistema Södertälje was established in 2012 as a part of the Södertälje Municipal Arts School.

Classes take place in two areas of Södertälje (Västergård and Hovsjö) and approximately 320 children aged 6 to 13 participate every week. The education is intensive, extracurricular, free of charge and group-based.

El Sistema Södertälje also has a community focus, gathering families from both areas to a community music night every week. The programme aims to be an inclusive orchestra school, with a focus on classical music, folk music and the childrens’ own creativity.

El Sistema Södertälje cooperates with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, which provides an orchestral role model for the Sistema pupils.
