Music for Peace is a free music education programme for children aged between 7 and 20. Operating in one of İstanbul's most disadvantaged inner-city neighbourhoods, the organisation's ultimate goal is to improve social cohesion and peace through music. The foundation houses the Music for Peace Children’s Orchestra, the Music for Peace Youth Symphony Orchestra and several chamber music ensembles.
The Music for Peace family is also getting bigger with the participation of new children’s orchestras which have recently emerged in different cities. Music for Peace's music training team based in its headquarters in Edirnekapı, İstanbul supports the new members with regular visits and all of the orchestras come together on stage for special event concerts. Amongst the children's orchestras in other parts of Turkey are the Music for Peace Nilüfer Children’s Orchestra in Bursa, the Music for Peace İnci Vakfı Childrens’s Orchestra in İzmir and the Music for Peace Adalar Children’s Orchestra on the Princes' Islands in İstanbul.
