The Peace Children Orchestra started with personal efforts as a social responsibility movement in the Eşrefpaşa-Kadifekale region by opera artist Selmin Günöz in 2015. It gathered under the roof of an association consisting of people who set their hearts on the project in 2017. The region, one of the poorest districts of İzmir is marked by intense conflicts, alcohol and drug use. It is a region where the crime rate especially among children is high. The only purpose of the “Peace Children Orchestra Protection and Development Association” is to support the music education of these children, to encourage music in order to protect them from the dangers of the street, and to find solutions to their family problems. Our work, which has been going on for 7 years, continues with 7 teachers under the leadership of Selmin Günöz and 150 children benefit from this training.
