Trillargento is a not for profit organization that works through musical education for the inclusion and skills development of children and teenagers who live in a situation of socio-economic, cultural, psychological, emotional and educational hardship and/or disability. Our mission is to create a permanent social change in some of the most deprived communities in Genoa – a town in Northern Italy; we’re inspired by the music-pedagogical experience of El Sistema, conceived in Venezuela by J.A.Abreu in 1975 and then spread throughout many countries of the world.

We use participation in our orchestra and choir programmes during school time and after school, involving also disabled children, to change lives by fostering confidence, discipline, teamwork, pride and aspiration in the children and young people taking part. This enables them to reach their full potential, leading successful and fulfilled lives. This approach has a knock on effect for their families and the wider community in general seeing as we also have adult musical programmes.

In the last five years, we involved more than 2,000 children and teenagers. Today we’ve got 4 orchestras of 152 children, a rock band of 14 teens and some musical experiences for adults involving 55 people.
